So what happen next then? Well like I said it was my big four o soon! Florida conjures up sun, sea, tan, Disney world, salsa, bodies and bikinis!
So after the 1-2-1 sessions eventually ended and the weight that was lost inevitably came back on, what else? What we her work's issues, loneliness in lack of friends, insecurity in our relationship and the unattractiveness she felt (no matter how much I said I adore her) with her weight piling back on...life at home was no picnic!
With past failed relationships we both knew that this is never going to be easy and with my own workload issues, I have times where I just didn't give a damn and just have a go at her for stop feeling sorry for her and get her proverbial finger out and get on with it!! Selfish, yes but I am only a man.
I keep thinking why can't she go to the gym by herself rather then me harping on at her? Why can't she eat less and of the right food instead of the extra potions of sticky toffee pudding? This also affected non diet topic and I notice that I have becoming short tempered and impatience with her especially when shopping for clothes. Even belittling her when she said sometime in the wrong context. In all I felt like dog poo!
When we did eventually sort external help (yep the shrink) we manage to talk more rather then shouting or silence. As a northerner and ex forces, I have the mentality of "stop moaning and get on with it!” If it doesn't work then as long as you know you give it a damn good effort then good on you! I wanted her indoors to have the same attitude with this diet plan.
So since about 2 weeks ago, she is now going to the gym each day. Unfortunately she has slip back in the last 4 days absence of gym as one of her mate has just returned from sabbatical. This has peeved me off but what can I do? Frack all!
The Florida trip is in one week and she has started the Cambridge Diet again. Big sigh...watch this space for the next instalment.

Pre Holiday preparations
Well it's my big four zero in a couple of weeks and what better then celebrate it away in Florida rather then gloomy grey cold England! This holiday has been in planning since last year and with that our training programmes and associated diets! I've been always been an active guy (14yrs in the Army) and since leaving the mob, been trying to hard to keep up the usual fitness regime of gyms, sports and charity runs. This comes relatively easily for me and self motivation and discipline tends to be the same too. My lovely partner though is another matter.
You see she is not from our fair land but is a Saffa and ever since landing on our shores (nearly 4yrs) the weight have been piling on from a size 8/10 to roughly size 14. She and they rest of the antipodeans females call this the "Heathrow injection"! Quiet funny I thought!
I have never been face with so many different diet plans since I met her! The thing is though she has never given the "eat less, exercise more" plan a chance! I suppose it is unfair to her as this type of mentality is fairly straight forward to me but to her it means a hell lot of discipline in both watching what she eat (we love our food!), drink and regular exercise!
It wasn't long before the excuses came out-
"I work too and am tired after work you know!"
"The gym is too far!"
"I can't afford the gym's membership"
"It’s not fair why you are thin"
"I can't exercise by myself!"
"It’s the Pill/genetics/food manufacturers fault!
"I MUST have chocolate!"
"What do you know?"
Gawd the list goes on. So the first was an half arse attempt in walking, running and playing squash more often but with our unfortunate weather, any signs of bad weather, me finishing work late she would cancel the exercise.
Next came a 10 weeks, 3 sessions per week 1-2-1 personal trainer programme combine with the Cambridge diet. This was not cheap but hey it seems to be working!
Suddenly she is excited about going to each training session and the weight was indeed coming off lb by lb! Then the evitable happen the weight seems to stop coming off and she couldn't keep the Cambridge diet going. Before long the 1-2-1 sessions came to an end and then so did the Cambridge Diet (this stop a few previous weeks before hand though). So what happen next...watch this space!
